update on our baby boy

We got an update on Zek today. Our case manager got the word that he is doing great and starting to eat more! They said that for an Ethiopian baby of his size the amount that he is taking in is good. They are also giving him a multivitamin and flax seed oil. I still need to figure out what this flax seed oil is. I have heard of it, but not sure what it is.

We are really happy to hear that he is doing great!

We have 3 days now left until our court date! I didn't think I would, but I am starting to get really anxious about it. I just want to hear really quickly that we passed and Zek is legally ours!

  1. Flaxseed is similar to fish oil. It is good for lots of different things but I am curious as to why they give it to babies. I am sure it wouldn't do any harm.

I am really hoping you clear court this week :)

  3. THat is so great to hear! Flax Seed is harmless. They were giving it to our baby boy too and I continued to give it to him at home. He was on soy at the orphanage (although I have switched him over), but it is to help him get the good things he needs, and it also helps with constipation; which our son would have a lot because of the soy.

  6. We give our wiphan kids flax seed oil too! It absorbs quicker---and it has ALA which your body converts to DHA...also found in breastmilk and in higher end formulas.) Builds up that little brain and helps the immune system:)

  8. I am SOOOO glad to hear that he is doing so well!!!!!!!!

From wikipedia..."linseed oil (aka flax seed oil) is used as a nutritional supplement. It contains high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, especially alpha-linolenic acid, which may be beneficial for reducing inflammation leading to atherosclerosis,[3] preventing heart disease and arrhythmia,[4] and is required for normal infant development"
